About the Park

Serengeti National Park

Spanning over 14,750 square kilometers of savannah, the Serengeti National Park is arguably the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world. Its name derives from the Maasai word "Siringet," meaning "endless plains," and the landscape truly delivers on that promise. The park is renowned for the annual Great Migration, where over two million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle traverse its vast grasslands in search of fresh grazing, creating one of nature's most awe-inspiring spectacles.

Beyond the migration, the Serengeti supports an extraordinary density of predators, including lion prides, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas, making every game drive an unforgettable experience. The park's diverse ecosystems range from the iconic short-grass plains in the south to the wooded hills and kopjes (rocky outcrops) that dot the landscape, each offering unique wildlife encounters.

The Serengeti has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981 and is widely considered one of the last great wildlife refuges on the planet. Whether you witness a dramatic river crossing, a predator hunt on the open plains, or a brilliant sunset over the savannah, the Serengeti leaves an indelible mark on every visitor.
